Feeling lost and alone.

I'm a hangin'! Lol We had a cookout yesterday for our oldest daughter's birthday, so I got to spend time with all my girls and 3 grandchildren. Needless to say, I was a bit tired last night...but it was good.
Have a happy and blessed Memorial weekend!!

Well...after talking with my oncologist, finally...I've decided that I will not take any hormone blockers or AI's. She's actually in agreement with me. Because the cancer was so small, caught early, no node involvement, and having had a mastectomy, she feels that a 2-3% decrease in recurrence rate wasn't worth the risk. She will still be doing follow up every 4 months for 2 years...then every 6 months for another 3 years. I'm at peace and living a cancer-free life.

Doesn't it feel good to have the decision made? I'm coming to BG in the next few weeks! I'll be stopping in to see you!
-
CakeLady - yippee! Good News....now go play:)))
-
Thank you, Ladies!! It feels great to have the decision made...and to know my MO is in agreement. I'm walking in my healing and living my life cancer-free!
I look forward to seeing you, Sunshine! Let me know when you might be down, so I can make sure I'm there. I go in on July 1, for my reconstruction surgery. So glad to be getting this "brick" out of my chest and getting my new "girl"! LOL! If you're on fb, look me up and you can get my phone number. I'm listed under Becky Willyard Crane. So excited to meet a new sister!!
-
I sent you a request! I can't wait to see you too! I'll let you know when I come!
I'm sure you're excited to have your surgery! Will you have to be out long?
-
Just accepted your request! :-) They want me out 4 weeks, but I can't close that long. We will close the first week of July, then I'll just be careful. I will have to go in on the 4th to do a small wedding cake...but I'll have someone come in to mix and bake for me. I'll just do the icing and decorating. I'll also be having a mastoplexy, to lift the other breast...and that's the one they're concerned with. No lifting my arm for 4 weeks! Hard to do...but I'll manage!

Cakelady - so sorry that you have been going through this without a lot of support from your doctors or your family. I agree with all of the advice you have been given so far. You may also want to check with your insurance company to see if it has a nurse navigator. I was offered one by my insurance co by mail. I also received a couple of calls from them where they explained by benefits and asked if I needed any other types of assistance.
Good luck. Don't worry you will never be alone because we are here whenever you need us.

Thank you so much, Gwenny!
I appreciate you telling me that. I will definitely check into it. It's been quite lonely sometimes...and quite daunting, too. But how blessed I am to have found this site! I feel like I have a new family.

I go in for surgery June 24th. I have invasive ductal carcinoma. Grade 2, eg 100% positive and pr. 99%positive HER 2 neg, size under 2 cm (1. Something forgot ) I had an MRI today. I am lucky that I have very good doctors in phoenix. My best support is my sister. She calls after every appointment. I don't know how people who have jobs get to them all. I retired last year so I am thankful for that.

Good luck! It sounds like you have a good plan & support system in place.
