Drinking while going thru Radiation - what did your Dr.'s say ??
Hi Ladies- I've read some of the posts and sections on everyone's feeling about drinking alcohol with BC. I was wondering how it affected you during radiation. I am on my 3rd day of Radiation. I like a glass of wine or cocktail a few times a week. Nobody (BS or RAD) has told me what to eat or drink/ or not.... and I've just pretty much read on my own for information.
Curious as to your experience with drinking - while in Radiation treatments. ! Thanks

Aussie, I never asked, because if I wanted a drink or glass a wine occasionally, the small amount I would consume would be ok.
Drinking before a chemo infusion or afterwards is not a smart choice. I was still pretty sick from chemo while I had rads that it was not an issue. I have not read or heard anyone say that you should not during radiation. In my survivorship classes, they stress NO drinking to prevent a reoccurrence or mets. That really puts a lot of stress, guilt on us, when wine with dinner is the norm.

"Drinking" means lots of different 'things' to different people. I do not remember having any drinks during rads. My Chemo Dr did tell me it was OK to have a drink (or 2) on Thanksgiving and/or Christmas - I did. Talk to your DRs.

I'm having a glass of wine, now and then, but just wondered if anyone else had ill affects from it while under radiation. I am only on 6th day so I am feeling ok now. I guess it depends on how it goes... -
I have had a drink or two all the way through treatment. I was just cautioned not to drink on the same day or just after chemo cuz it is a lot for your liver or kidney to process. No problem during radiation! Just one or two now and then I think is OK

My RO told me that "red wine is medicinal", LOL, but I did find that alcohol hit me much harder during radiation (probably due to the fatigue), so I tended to stay away from it.

"Drinking' (even 'occasionaly') means so many different thing! I was told it was fine to have to a 'drink or 2' on special days to keep life as 'normal as possible' IF it what I normally what I did - to 'live as I always had. I do.

I was told go for it...and I did
