I am on BCO several times a day going to All Topics, I check 3 boards and two threads but will click on a topic which looks interesting or to which I think I might be able to contribute. One of the boards I always check is the one about clinical trials and within that, if it is the featured thread, which I assume to mean the one with the most recent post, I check theCyp2d6 thread. Today I found a post by Sas-Schatzi that, though slightly off topic ie how to pay for the drugs whose metabolic pathways are being discussed. This issue was of great interest to me. I read the post, got distracted but when I went back to copy the url so I could explore the recommended site, it was gone. The way I found it was by pm'ing Sas-Schatzi who explained that it was considered spam. She went on to direct me to a thread on which it still existed. While I hate spam as much as anyone, I can understand Sas's enthusiasm about this particular post and the reason she posted it on the other threads which she had started. I never would have seen the post if it hadn't been on that particular thread. My recommendation is that in an instance like this, where the content of the post is not the problem, but the number of places in which it is posted is the problem,  instead of simply deleting the post and stating that it was deleted by the Mods, an additional note as to where the post could still be found would be helpful.

Jelson, we will certainly consider your suggestion, keeping in mind that when posts are made about the same subject (in this instance about http://www.needymeds.org) in so many threads, they are viewed as spam, however good the intention of the poster. Spamming is against the BCO Community Rules, whether or not it is part of a thread started by the poster.

The Recommend Your Resources forum is a good place for members to post sites and other resources that they have found useful, or in another topic-specific forum or thread.

Mods - thank you for keeping such a diligent eye out for true spam - I think we we all hate it!

But in the case of SAS-Schatzi's inadvertent post in the wrong forum, would it be possible to simply delete that post and move it to the "Resources" forum you referred to, along with a short explanation of why you did so, along with a link? (Rereading her post, I think that is what Jelson was suggesting.)

Perhaps that is what you did; if so, I apologize.

p.s. Exactly what is the limit on the number of times the same topic might be posted in different forums? I see lots of newbies flooding multiple forums to make sure their questions are answered; yet I often wonder the same thing. (Or is this a different subject entirely?)
