How much should I ask for a new flexi pump used about 12 times?

I'm thinking of selling this and do not know what to ask. Can not use it or should say scared to use it. I have stage 4 IDC that is in the peritoneal and was told it should not be used. Ladies please help me out on how to go about this and what I should ask.

So sorry to hear about your Stage IV dx.  I also have LE, own the Flexitouch pump and just recently became Stage IV ILC.  My mets is in the lymph nodes of neck, chest and abdomen.  Whether or not it is safe to continue MLD or use a compression pump system with Stage IV BC is inadequately studied and controversial, so I can certainly understand your concerns.  I do continue to get professional MLD with my LE certified therapist, but have not used my flexitouch in awhile.

If your flexitouch is basically new, you might consider calling Tactile Systems to see if they offer any kind of pro-rated refund if you return the pump.  A newer system in good condition may have some value to them as a resale.

You might also consider any local lymphedema clinics or therapists who would love to find a Flexitouch pump system to use in their practice.  I believe the garments can be used between patients when following a strict protocol for protecting/cleaning between patients.  I know that flexitouch reps routinely use demonstration pumps and garments between multiple patients.

Trying to find a LE patient who could wear the same size and affected side garments would be an option.  I personally, feel whomever you sell the pump system to, they should have prior experience or access to a trained therapist/instructor who can make sure they are properly and safely using the device.  There are several medical conditions that are not compatible with using a pump and may result in worsening or serious health issues.

As to an asking price for your pump system....that is a difficult question.  The pumps retail for anywhere from $7000 - $12,000 new but in reality, insurance allowed amounts are usually much lower, but still in the multiple thousands.  If a patient has a pump that insurance picked up most of the cost, you could likely get back what you paid as your coinsurance amount or more.  I suspect you may find a professional LE therapist or clinic willing to pay more for a pump system than an individual patient, but again it all depends on how much demand is in your area.

Others may have suggestions also.

Sallyk, I will also make another comment you may want to consider.  Having a Stage IV dx, we both know that there may come a time when our priority will be quality of life and no longer pursuing active treatments.  Hopefully, that will be a very LONG time away and if we are lucky, there is a cure just around the corner.  But, since I tend to be a planner, my current thinking is that my flexitouch system may become valuable for pain relief and reducing swelling if that becomes a priority in the future.  Like you, I am reluctant to use it now because I have every expectation of keeping my mets at bay for as long as possible.  I am however, thinking I may want to keep the option of using the pump for the future.

Does anyone know a good place to sell Flexitouch system or attachments ? I have the new 2016 design flexitouch upper body arm and chest attachment piece,It doesn't fit me ? Haven't even worn it,Its a more easier to put on and more effective design but I can't even use it : ( Are their good websites to sell medical equipment ?

Have you asked your LEPT if she/he knows anyone that isn't covered under insurance that will be buying one?
