Ayurveda for treating side effects
Hi, Ladies.
I am new to this site and am amazed at the wealth of Information, the emotional support you provide each other and the courage of everyone here. I am truly honored to be part of your group.
I would like to share with you how I dealt with the side effects of Arimidex. You might find my experience helpful.
I started taking Arimidex on Feb 1, 2014. The first few days I suffered from vomiting, nausea, headaches, dizziness and extreme fatigue. The vomiting lessened and eventually went away after the first week. The nausea, headaches, dizziness and fatigue continued for about two more weeks. After a month, only the headaches and fatigue remained. The fatigue was so bad that I could barely get out of bed to go to work. I refused to take more drugs to fight the side effects because those may have their own side effects.
In desperation, I decided to try Ayurveda which is the ancient healing art that originated in the Kerala region of India. I had a one hour consultation with the doctor (he is also a physician). He explained my dosha and what may be causing my body's imbalance, and then he prescribed a 7-day cleanse. I felt significantly better after the first day of treatment. I had the best sleep that first night and continue to do so to this day.
I still go every other week. My treatments include a full body massage with medicated oils, head treatment, foot treatment, face treatment and steam bath. These take one hour and 20 minutes. On certain days, the doctor may prescribe Shirodhara (herbal oil drip on forehead) which takes 30 minutes. The Ayurveda treatments help me feel relaxed, energetic and happy with the world.
I spoke to my oncologist before I made an appointment for Ayurveda and she encouraged me to try it. So I urge you to talk to your medical team first. Here is a link to the Santhigram Ayurveda treatment center website in case you are interested. They have several treatment centers in the U.S. I go to their wellness center in Chicago >>> http://santhigramusa.com

I used guduchi for managing internal heat during radiation. It was really helpful compared to first two weeks when I was feeling hot all the time @rafiation site.

I don't do a lot of Ayurvedic medicine but I have done oil-pulling for the last year and a half. After years of toxic cancer treatments and bisphosphonates my teeth and gums were in horrific shape. I was a prime candidate for developing ONJ. At the advice of my dentist, and sheer desperation, I tried it and it was my little miracle. Jaw pain eventually went away, gums that were receded improved and no more tooth sensitivity. I was super terrified of ONJ but after my last dental appointment, dentist said I don't have to worry about it anymore. He did a bacterial swab and NADA! As an added bonus.....no more flossing and super white teeth. I think we can learn a lot from Ayurvedic medicine. Sometimes remedies as old as time just can't be improved upon.
