I have had a subcutaneous bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and a family history of breast cancer. I have been back and forth to doctors over a mass I found in my right breast. All the doctors I have seen are saying different things. I went for a diagnostic mammogram and the report reads the following:

Implants appear well positioned. Residual fibroglandular tissue is noted bilaterally. There is a 31mm circumscribed mass in the right retroareolar region probably corresponding to patient's palpable nodule. No suspicious masses or clustered microcalcifications are noted.

I cannot get clarification from any of the doctors as to what the mammo report really means. I don't want to have unnecessary surgery. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

I'm sorry that no one has answered.  I have no idea but didn't want to leave you hanging.  If it was me I'd keep asking until I got answers.

I can't be of much help either. I did have a Bmx and my screening now is an annual MRI.  I'm glad about it because it not only checks for recurrence but it checks the integrity of the implants as well.

I think the fact it is a palpable nodule and they note fibroglandular tissue is a positive sign.

Thank you for your reply. Since my previous post I was referred to ultrasound, which has come back as a Bi-rads 4. I am seeing a breast specialist Monday.
