Hotflashes Worsening during chemo - Post Menopausal

Hi ladies,

I am a two time bc survivor.  First diagnosis at age 41 in 2005.  Had ovaries removed in 2008 so have been post menopausal since then.  I was on Armidex for 5 years and finished it 3 years ago.  My hotflashes have been almost nothing since I finished Armidex.

Diagnosed with new Primary bc in January this year...just finished 4 rounds of Cytoxan/Taxotere 3 weeks ago.  My hotflashes have been horrible throughout chemo.  Please tell me they will go back to what they were prior to this 2nd diagnosis?  Any feedback from post menopausal ladies out there.

Michele

hi Michele, I was in peri-meno when dx at age 50.  I don't remember having hot flashes until TC chemo put me into full chemo-pause.  That's when the wicked HF's and night sweats started.  The night sweats are gone now TG and the HF's have leveled off but I still get several throughout the day.

I carry a folding hand fan in my purse and deploy as needed.  People at work are used to it by now and middle-aged men smile and say, "yeah my wife gets those too."  I had an ooph a year ago but that didn't have much effect on HF's and I still need some KY for intimacy but other than that, it's not too bad.

Best wishes and ((gentle hugs)). ♥

    Michelle

I have been flashing for 10 years.  The flashes were horrible last summer while on chemo.  I do believe that they have calmed down during the last few months.  So there is hope for you too.

    Hugs
