a little freaked out-can you help me off the ledge????
so
I have had some sort of cold-bronchitis this winter--- started with shingles, then things just went downhill... but I could make it to work, etc. Things were getting better, then allergy season hit---my doc had me do two chest xrays-both clear..... but this week, I still have some of the cough, clearly some sinus issues, but now I have this incredible fatigue--- like it it is exhausting just to get myself to work.... she now wants me to get a ct scan and see a pulmonologist..... I know I need to do these things but I am so stressed out by having tests now..... it makes me so anxious and I don't want to know if anything is wrong-- I just wrote to her that I will get the test but I don't want to know the results.
Help me off the ledge!!!!!

momand2kids,
I recently had similar issues (other than the shingles), it turned out to be an infection that had moved to the lungs and it cleared in 10 days with a round of antibiotics. I hope you get better soon.

momand2kids,
I've been dealing with the same stuff (except for the shingles), trying to self medicate for the last 6 to 8 weeks. I just received a pneumonia diagnosis last week. The incredible fatigue you describe is part of the pneumonia. I struggle with allergies each year, but this year it took a major turn for the worse. I think it's normal to do a CT if the chest X-Ray was clear because my Dr told me that would be the next step if the X-Ray came back clear. Have you taken antibiotics? The Dr also did blood work and said nothing elevated except what would be with the pneumonia. Did your Dr do bloodwork? I had major drainage for a long time and it turned into a bacterial infection. It sounds like that may be what's happening to you.

Thanks so much. Susie, they did check me for pneumonia-which I have had before and remember being in alot of pain-but this exhaustion reminds me of it as well.... At one point I was taking prednisone then augmetnen (I had an earache)... they did some blood work last week at my physical....my husband is also dragging himself around--I have not felt this badly in a long time..... I had to come home from work today because I was just so weary--- I do hope it is nothing--I will make myself go to the scan tomorrow---and they are trying to get me into a pulmonologist-although I am not sure that matters.... maybe it is pneumonia, I just pray it is nothing more serious. My dr. did get back to me and say she thought it could be another virus when she found out that my husband was also under the weather.... so keep me in your thoughts....thanks for helping talk me off the ledge

Please let us know how it goes tomorrow. I'll keep you in my prayers. Maybe it is a virus since your hubby has it to. (( hugs))

Hi
I had the scan-no results yet--feeling a little better--spent all day yesterday on the couch watching bad tv----- hoping to get outside today since it looks nice out--- will check back. Thanks for support

I had that super exhausted feeling three years ago then while walking the dog I just couldn't go any further - I went to my PCP within the hour and I had pneumonia - no symptoms but I had a sinus infection the month before and of course allergies - get off the ledge. Sending hugs, S.

Sandy
I just came back from walking the dog--and I am not exhausted but I would have been last week-so I am feeling a little better..... I do have some sort of sinus thing-- have finally started using the neti pot... seems to give a little relief...I am sort of off the ledge-but still a little anxious....
thanks

mom, sorry for your bad time with this. I am finally over a similar thing from this last year. PCD kept giving me antibiotics, non worked. Finally I went to an ENT guy (I could not breath when I lay down so no sleep for several months. Dang if the ENT looked up my nose (I told him I felt like I had beans up my nose~~). He politely told me no beans but polyps.
Needed surgery, found a great surgeon, had all removed and now breathing. Some of the ENTs advise might help you...neti pots are cute but the Simply Saline spray is more effective as it gets to more areas, My advise is to get the scans to see what is up and do see the pulminary doc.
It has taken me almost a year as I waited so long to seek help....get some help from a specialist. If you were in NJ I would send you to my guys! good luck

thanks so much for your advice... lungs are clear--but of course, since we all know the radiologists have to write everything down, they noted a nodule on my thyroid. My pcp wants me to do an ultrasound. If it is larger than 1 cm, I will need a biopsy. If not, we are fine. Of course she said that most of these are benign--which is of course what people said about the lump in my breast. But, I am not worried--will schedule the ultrasound and see what happens. will keep you posted.
