Hello ladies,

Please excuse my grammar because as im writing this im crying my eyes out and consumed of frustration. For the last couple of months I have been experiencing pain in my left breast and underarm.  I shared the concerns to my obgyn and he ordered for me to have a digital mammogram and ultrasound in may....everything came back clear and the radiologist that day told the nurse that im having fibrocystic pain and I have very dense breast. After both of those test it calmed my nerves, but maybe a week later I noticed a lil red spot on my left breast that looked like it could have been a bug bite. Since then the spot has faded some, but I am still experiencing pain in my left breast, underarm, and my breast feels heavy most of the time. Do these sound like symptoms of Ibc???

There are so MANY possibilities for what you say you have been experiencing for quite a while.  (A mammo/us done, in May, with results in, would be almost a year ago - not recent.)

An appt. with your Dr is called for to find out what is still going on.  But it does not sound like IBC but of course anything is a remote possibility.  IBC is rare, being only between 1% - 5% of all DXd BCs, and is very aggressive and presents/progresses rapidly.  It presents somewhat differently with each of us.  I never had any pain or redness at all, though in the 17 days between DX (a week after finding enlarged node under arm that had not been there the day before) and starting neoadjuvant chemo, it had presented itself very vividly.

No one here can tell/diagnose what is going on with you - we are not Drs who actually see you and your records.  See you Dr or perhaps more than just one.

    Tash,

I think Kicks is right: you need a recent mammo/us. I had such dense fibrocystic breasts that I had surgery on them to relieve the pain. That was 22 years ago. As far as I know, there was no connection between the fibrosis and my current, still fairly new DX of IBC.

IBC presents in so many ways that it is impossible to say what is or isn't a symptom of it. I think you're wise to have your breasts checked again. But please don't assume the worst. I truly hope you don't have IBC, but if your docs suspect it, please make sure you find docs who are experienced with IBC -- my town is so tiny that there is no oc nearby who has experience treating it and that really is important.

And let us know what the outcome of your us/mammo is.

Thanks so much for responding ladies! And I dnt know how I got my months mixed up, but I had my mammo/us this march 2014. Do you think I should request a mri and I ask that because I dnt have the typical symptoms that would alarm my doctor to even think about a biospy?
