Newly Diagnosed in Edmonton

Hello to anyone from Edmonton -

I am looking for any and all information I can find on local surgeons. This is my next step. The surgeon recommended to me by my PCP is someone I have great concerns about. As well, I have a PCP who does not listen and is not proactive regarding my concerns and questions. This does not only relate to my current diagnosis, but to other issues I have had to consult with her in the past. Therefore, my trust level is very low. So not wishing to switch PCP's at this moment (because trust me that is what I will do later), how can I ensure that I receive a decent surgeon? I gave the PCP's front desk person some names but she won't go "outside" her network (WTF does that mean?). And I feel like I am being backed into a corner without being heard or understood. I definitely wish to get this taken care as soon as possible, but not at the risk of bad advice. Tomorrow I go to see the PCP to discuss this but she is not going to listen unless I know exactly what I need to tell her. With my diagnosis today, I am completely unprepared as to what I should be demanding on my behalf to get the best surgeon I can. Any help with this? Thank you all <3
