From my biopsy that was done, it shows that I am ER & PE negative, but I am HER2 positive.  They said after the surgery it will be more conclusive of these levels.  I was also told that there is a med Hercepton.  My tumor was 5mm, 10 cm from the nipple. BS said it was early and very small.  I hope this is my saving grace.  Anyone out there doing well with this type?  Thank you for you help. BTW, getting a lumpectomy on Tuesday.

There are lots of us who are ER-, PR- and Her2+.  And nearly all, (If not all), get Herceptin as a standard treatment.  There was a movie made a few years back about the creation of this drug that starred Harry Connick, Jr.  It is very informative plus it is also just a good movie.  The name of it is Living Proof.  It is available from Netflix.

Good luck with your lumpectomy next week.  I'm sure you will do just fine. :)

Thank you Faith.  I know I'll do whatever it takes.  Did you have much side effects from the Herceptin?  Even though my BS said it was small and the radiologist said tiny, I am still so nervous about this whole thing.

I didn't have any side effects when I was taking Herceptin.

I just saw this board and that is my diagnosis. I start AC in about 2 weeks and will be on Herceptin for 1 Year.

Anyone else having chemo for I year? I was stunned by that news.

Someone told me about a good movie that was on Lifetime awhile ago called Living Proof.  If you have Netflix you can order it.  I don't so I ordered it from the library and it's in today.  Going to get it in a little while. It stars Harry Connig Jr as a doctor/researcher to developed the Herceptin.  I was very concerned when I saw on the pathology report ER-/PR- and HER2+, but my BS's nurse said it is not conclusive until the lumpectomy when they have a larger piece.  Amyo what is AC?  I know the Herceptin will be a year but does that mean you will be on chemo for 1 year as well?  I am also joining a support group in my area.  You may want to check out the nearest hospital in your area to find a support group.  Good luck to all of us!  Hugs!!

AC is a chemo combination of adriamycin and cytoxin.  That is a pretty common combo.  Most likely your Herceptin will be for a year but the AC will not.  The movie, Living Proof, is really good.  Very good story about how Herceptin was developed but also just a good movie.

Year of Herceptin is standard of care for women that are Her 2+.  There are minimal side effects but I won't say there are none as everyone is different.
