GARMENT for truncal

I tried the medium, as my band size is a 36, right at the bottom of the range. It was surprisingly comfortable as these garments go, and did not roll up. I guess if you're at the top end of a size range, you could size up then. Returns were easy, so you could try 2 sizes and send one back.

RE: EMail
For those of you who do like the sasybax, I wish you would consider emailing as I did . I spoke to Amanda Kennedy and she seemed quite receptive to the possibility of getting FDA approval to sell these as med . garments so perhaps someof us could get covered by RX.
The more people who support/ show interest in this, I think the better our chances will be.
THX!

Thanks on the size floaton. Purple- If I end up getting one & Like it I will be sure to write
-
I went to check it out to see if the torso one would fit me. Found it interesting that they added this in their description. I think next pay day I may order one and find out. You have made some progress at least.
This product has also gained in popularity for many cancer survivors because of the soft comfortable support it gives without underwires, the compression which helps with trunkal edema*, and for a varitey of post surgical* reasons including but not limited to liposuction, tummy tuck, back surgeries and even lung surgery*.
-
Please do, Dejaboo!
Sounds good, kittydog...thanks!
-
Dejaboo, sounds like I have pretty much the same sizing as floaton and the medium is working great for me as well. I will definitely be ordering another one and also emailing.
-
Thank you lyla. That is great that it is working for you too! -
My LE is in my right trunk and my left arm and hand. It doesn't look like there is anything on the website that would be suitable for my needs.I have a "Tribute" vest and 2 sleeves, which is affective, but is like sleeping in a down vest !!
edited - I would like something cooler

Mochelle, welcome!
Sorry about the "swell" reason you've joined us, but glad you found us.Have you checked out the garment page at StepUp-SpeakOut? At the bottom of the page there are several pages to link to for different types of truncal garment options:
http://www.stepup-speakout.org/Lymphedema_garments...
Some women really like the Expand-a-band binders for nighttime--lighter and cooler than the Tribute garments. Another one that's popular is the Intuition compression bra. I do use Tribute at night, but I have them make my vests short--cooler and easier to breathe! But you're so right--not exactly a summer outfit! Do you put yours in the refrigerator during the day (in a plastic bag--nowhere near the onions!)? The foam chips hold the cool long enough so I can fall asleep, and that sure helps. Doesn't fit in the fridge real well on shopping days, but otherwise it's a help with the heat.
Gentle hugs,
Binney -
I need to look at that link. I'm trying to get ideas for nighttime wear. My CLT suggested that i find some compression type shirt for nighttime, but so far I haven't found anything that was tight enough that didn't squash my right breast. My LE is mainly in left armpit area and over the MX scar (left chest) with some slight swelling in upper left arm. And to top it off, I have a bum shoulder that flares up with too much compression. UGH! -
That breast binder might just do the trick. I actually bought a couple of bandeau tops to hold my "breast" swell spot. No straps to put pressure on the bum shoulder. But I look really silly wearing it!
And these bandeau tops are WAY smaller than the tube tops of my younger days !
-
Glennie, if you order the Expand-a-band, get the lined one--softer on the skin. Keep us posted on what you discover!
Binney -
thanks for that advice, Binney. Will be going online tomorrow for some shopping. The bandeaus don't give quite enough support to obtain the compression but I had the concept I needed. LOL! And then I see the binders! I'm just hoping they will not put too much pressure on my remaining breast. It's such a balancing act. I will keep you posted.
Thanks so much for all the advice. It is greatly appreciated.
-
One lined binder -- ordered! Will keep you posted. I'm right at 34, so I called to see if I should order up or down. she said since I'm using it with the Swell Spot, to order up, so I got a medium. **fingers crossed**
-
Thanks for the hint of putting my "down vest and sleeve" in the freezer ! It helps -
Moochelle, Solaris says refrigerator, not freezer--because they don't want to be responsible for extreme temps. But, yeah, it really does help! And in the winter I pop them into the dryer for a few minutes to warm them up--yummy!

Hi Binney, I ordered a medium with the breast binder and it's pretty good. I still wonder if the small would have given me more compression. But I can sleep in it so that's a plus. I just ordered the Wearease compression bra, as CureDiva is having a big sale this weekend, so there's another option!
I tell ya,, you can spend some serious money on this stuff!! And the shipping,, yikes!
-
Not only can you spend some serious money, but it's all stuff you wish you didn't need! :-(
Still, when it helps, it's mighty welcome! Keep us posted on your discoveries, please.
Hugs, and sweet dreams,
Binney -
So true!! All stuff you wish you didn't need. *sigh* -
I looked at the sassybax site today and noticed some items were posted under MEDICAL! Wonder if we could get reimbursement. People, pls email sassybax if you like these products!

Gonna give this a try. I'm still ok with the Genie slimmer but looking for some others.
Are you saying to purchase this in a larger size?

Just wanted to share... I'm having very good results with a compression vest called Bellisse. I've tried all manner of wraps, sports bras and "torso trimming" garments, but they didn't work well. Once I put on a Bellisse, it was a great relief. The pain almost completely disappeared. My oncologist had written a prescription for it, at the suggestion of the LE PT. However, no script was actually required at the website where I purchased it. Some insurance companies might cover it, since it really has only a medical purpose. Unfortunately, my insurance was not willing to pay. However, I liked it so much that I ended up buying a second one, in spite of the $200 price tag. (!) I'm dealing with so many side effects and complications from BC treatment, it's nice to have one under control.
Here's a link to the website: http://www.lymphedemaproducts.com/products/bellisse-bra.html
(And, no, I don't work for them.) :-) -
Glad you found something that works for you, turtlelady. It is a big challenge until you find it, and such a relief when you do! -
Just want to add that those of us without recon can get our truncal compression garments paid for if they have prosthesis pockets and they're billed as mastectomy bras/camis. Just got two WearEase Slimmers that way, despite the fact my insurance no longer pays for compression garments.
Finding what's just right for you and then affording it is a real battle. Congrats on the triumph, Turtlelady!
Hugs,
Binney -
Binney4, that's great info! The bellisse has prosthesis pockets. My LE PT doesn't treat a lot of truncal patients, so she didn't know that. I'll pass on the info. Thanks!

http://www.amazon.com/Franato-Womens-Shapewear-Control-Color/dp/B00FIXJW6C/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1439321193&sr=8-1&keywords=shapewear+franato This is a pretty long address, so I hope it posts. My Lymphedema Specialist bought one of these for me to try.(size XL: I am 5'9", 185 lbs, age 75) They are on sale right now, as are several similar "shapewear" camos. I have truncal lymphedema, and the compression below the bra line is so important. I ordered 5 different shirts (including a larger one of these) for $88.00 total on Amazon (We have Prime). I think I could sleep in the XXL! It is so hard to find helpful garments that we can just buy outright, without the hassle of going through insurance.
-
Thanks, Patricia!
There are several items on that page that look like possibilities. Really delighted that you found something so suitable for you--there's so much "trial and error" to this stuff, and it sure can get expensive!
Hugs,
Binney
