Weight gain on Arimidex

I'm one of the women who have gained weight on AI therapy ... 20 pounds in nearly 4 years, most soon after starting. I am not eating more or exercising less. Prior to AI therapy (both Femara and now Arimidex), I was always an ideal weight. My mom was the same way. Just as my mom did, I burn a lot of nervous energy and my normal weight also seemed to be hereditary, if such a thing exists.

My attempts to diet are back and forth by only a few pounds (in other words, I'm not losing weight). The fatigue caused by the AIs and also my chronic illness work against regular exercise, but I do my very best. Even with my chronic illness prior to BC dx, my weight was normal.

My husband says I'm just getting older, but I never had a weight problem before, nor did my mom her entire life. Do you think I'll drop this weight after I stop the AI or is it permanent? My stomach used to be flat and now it seems at least half of the 20 pounds have settled there. I haven't given up hope of losing the extra weight, but it's difficult with my chronic illness.

Anyone lose weight after stopping their AI ?

P.S. I apologize in advance for asking such a superficial question.

Not at all a superficial question.  I'm wanting to know how to prevent weight gain on the Arimidex I just started.  I lost 20# with a University of Kansas Medical School Diet program for BC survivors.  I hate the thought of the past 20 months efforts going down the tube.  Surely there's food that will jump start metabolism.  DId you cut back on dairy or soy, or do we need to be concerned about hormone like substances in our diet?  We get assaulted in so many ways with BC I think caring about our weight , both appearance and health benefits....less taxing on the heart and the joints if I keep these 20 # off is just smart and prudent.  Please someone out there with nutrition and pharmaceutical knowledge enlighten us!

this is my third time around, never made it to 5 years, but obviously I believe in trying to have a healthy lifestyle or I wouldn't have been in the weight loss program.
