Please take just a
moment to read this:

I am forwarding a
message from Ilene Winters, whom many of you know was instrumental in starting
the Cancer Support Community (CSC) and is trying to do everything in her power
to save it, but she needs our help. Please try to attend the meeting
described below to show your support. If you cannot make the meeting, it would
be very much appreciated if you could forward this email to as many people as possible.
If we all do that, it could really make the difference between CSC staying open
vs. closing.

CSC is a place that
many people have told me has made the difference for them in how they have
gotten through their cancer experience. It is not just a center where
people attend meetings, but where they can get support, encouragement
and a community who cares when other people simply cannot understand
what they are going through. In turn, many people continue to attend
classes for years so that they can give back to those currently going through a
cancer experience. So many people have come to rely on the Cancer Support
Community and there is nothing even remotely nearby that offers anything
similar, and at no cost whatsoever!

For those of you who
aren't familiar with CSC, please think about attending as your help would be
invaluable and it would be great if more people learned about this terrific
resource. Unfortunately we have all been touched by cancer through personal
experience, and this wonderful resource, that offers support through various
programs, including one on one counseling, informative sessions from doctors,
nurses, nutritionists, chefs, as well as exercise and meditation classes to
those who have been affected by cancer as well their family and friends,
all AT NO CHARGE, is
threatening to close in just 9 days if we don't rally together to show
our support.

Here is Ilene's message:

“I'm sure you've heard
by now that the Cancer Support Community announced they were closing as of
April 30th due to lack of funding.

As you can well imagine,
I'm not going to let this happen, if I can help it. However, this will be a
tough battle, and I'll need an army behind me. 

Do you have an interest in
helping to keep the place open as a viable community resource? This can mean
anything from helping to get the word out to sitting on the board - and
anything in between. I just need people behind me that know what a great
resource the place is, and want to see it stay as such.”

planning 2 info sessions on how we will move forward:
