less than week into radiation and struggling with mastitis

Just wondering if anyone can offer advice or share experience. I started radiation last week and noticed nipple feeling warm first evening. Had my husband check just to be sure I wasn't imagining. Anyway, recheck 3rd day with nurse practitioner and radiation oncologist and showed them area again a little swollen and warm. Initially thought may just be related to seroma which I knew I had and can change a bit in size, discomfort. At 5th session, convinced I had mastitis as area more red, swollen and now experiencing fever, chills, basically felt horrible. Techs said everyone different but I was like, I won't make five more weeks if I feel this way already-something is not right. Nurse practitioner agrees I do have mastitis and says this can happen at start of radiation as some germs love warm environment radiation can create and they go a little nuts.  I am now 4 weeks post op from second surgery-had to wait three weeks to heal more. Started on antibiotics but not kicked in yet. I see surgeon on Friday- there was some mention that seroma can need to be drained sometimes. Hoping not as this seems smaller in size. I had two lumpectomies for Grade 11 DCIS, the last was quadrantectomy since DCIS multifocal, I knew seroma would likely occur. Incision just below nipple, involves areola so have been told boost last week will be rough. I know I need radiation as two margins still <1mm but I am feeling discouraged. I am nurse so already big on hand washing. Anyone who had incision in this same area that can share what they did for comfort would be appreciated. I have tried soft, large bra no underwire- mind you I am not large, but I am so uncomfortable this week it comes off as soon as home. Beginning to think nipples might be over rated! Wondering any products available or site for these. Thanks in advance
