PICC line problem

I just need to vent.   Had a PICC line insertion Monday to try to save the veins in my one available arm for chemotherapy starting on April 9th.   Tuesday night my shoulder started to hurt.   Wednesday morning I notified homecare PICC nurse who sent me to ER.  ER doc ordered Chest xray to verify placement.  Line flushes abs draws blood easily.   Doc thinks it's too soon for a clot.  Orders a doppler for the veins for Thurs afternoon to double check.   Tells me that if the wait is too long in ER after doppler to go home and follow up with family doctor.   I wait for 3 hours in ER.  Appendicitis kid beside me had already waited 5 hours.   I decided to go home and call my family doctor.   Who had gone home at 2pm grrrr.  Called back this am to get physician to read results.   Secretary said she would put it on the docs desk.  There I am still waiting at home.   Arm hurting on Percocet from the ER doctor.   At noon I called my nurse navigator, who read it for me.   Blood clot.  SURPRISE!  Back to the ER for me.  I'm ticked off that the doctor who read the report didn't follow up.  And ticked off that my few days of freedom before chemo are spent in pain in and out of ER.  Last night I broke down and sobbed.  The one thing that was supposed to help me through this crap hand I've been dealt and make things just a touch easier.   So mad.  Feels so unfair.   I will be ok.  I just needed to tell someone and vent.  BOO!

Hugs to you... I've had my PICC for just over 6 weeks and it really is a good thing and saves so much poking! Hoping you are doing ok with round 1 of chemo. I just did round 3 of fec yesterday and move onto d in 3 weeks time! It's good to vent - do it ANYTIME!!

Thanks everyone  it's veins on my sentinel node side for my round of chemo today bc they can't infuse into the blood clot arm.
