Can diarrhea be caused from radiation?

been dealing with daily diarrhea and wondering if anyone else getting rads have had this same problem?  My mom also had it during her treatment!

my ro when i did rads says it can cause diarrhea. For me I never had diarrhea I just got a bad rash/sunburn in my radiation areas when I started chemo a month after radiation treatments. But a lot of people say with rads there is a delayed effect

QM,

I thought it was psychosomatic, but I am having diarrhea and I've only had three of my treatments.  I'm getting the shorter treatment course that has more intense treatments.  I just feel crappy. I have gotten through surgery and now  I think it's really hitting me. I think it's just really an exhausting time!

qmtinc, we're sorry you're dealing with this! Although diarrhea isn't listed as a side effect of radiation at the main Breastcancer.org site, we notice that your tamoxifen treatment has been discussed here on the boards as something that can trigger that SE. Check out this discussion from 2011.
