Endometrial Biopsy

I just had my first (and hopefully last) endometrial biopsy.  I have been on Tamoxifen for almost 3 years and had a transvaginal US in Feb showing 18mm endometrial thickness.  I wanted to post and let you know that it wasn't really that bad.  I was frightened that it would be very painful, so my doc gave me an Rx for percocet and valium.  I premedicated and I think that helped me a lot.  A friend brought me and we went out to lunch before and chatted while waiting--also helpful.  The procedure itself was uncomfortable, but quick.  It probably would have hurt more without the meds.  I think I will need more meds tonight when these wear off, but altogether not that bad.

Thanks Chrissy.  I just wanted to post that I had an OK experience as I read way too many posts about how awful it was.  I'm a little sore today, but not anything too awful.

I have had a endometrial biopsy also, although it was for infertility pre cancer. I took tylenol. left work, had procedure and home afterward. Business as usual the next day. Procedure was similar to getting an annual GYN exam. Felt what was like a slight pinch/ pressure as she entered the cervix.  Uncomfortable and gave me cramps over the next day. I did not normally have them with periods, so I was uncomfortable  but livable. Dr suggested tylenol or ibuprofen for pain or would give a prescription pain killer if horrible. Cramps passed in 2 days, spotting was 2 days. 

Compared to other things we have experienced in our cancer journeys, this is, for most, manageable. The  emotional  part is harder. the what is going on and waiting part......
