Steps prior to chemo

hi all

I was told yesterday that I will be referred to an oncologist to discuss treatment for my bc and that I am a candidate for chemo

I now wait for the phone to ring with an appt. I understand that the first step will be to meet with the oncologist to discuss the cancer and suggested treatment. I was told that I should see someone within a weeks time

What happens after that and how much time usually passes before chemo starts?  Are there any tests?

My hubby and I were planning a small getaway week after next just to get a break from the stress before the next stage starts but I don't want to delay anything!

I understand that things might be different between the US and canada but would appreciate feedback from all

Thanks so much!!

I started chemo one month after my first visit with my MO.  The only test I had to do was an echo to check my heart since I was going to have adriamycin.

I actually went on a 4 day cruise that the docs approved.   As it turned out our 4 day cruise turned into an eight day cruise.  We were on the carnival triumph that had the engine room fire and we were stranded in the Gulf of Mexico for a few extra days while they towed us into Mobile, AL.

I see a relaxing few days for you in your near future.
