What Healthy Lifestyle Changes Have You Made?

I'm just curious what kind, if any, lifestyle changes you all made when you were diagnosed? For example, I haven't used regular deodorant or touched Diet Mountain Dew for months - just two things I immediately "switched off" when I was blindsided with a DCIS diagnosis. I have also started focusing on buying more organic food and not eating anything burnt to a crisp. I know these things may be unrelated, but I don't smoke, I'm active, healthy weight, no family history, etc. so I felt like I had to change something!! Wondering if anyone else out there is obsessing with random sources of carcinogens!!

i've actually gone the other direction.  I used to try to eat healthy for weight loss but i feel my cancer is the result of psychological issues so i am trying to embrace life and have tended toward comfort food that i stayed away from for years.  I want to relax and enjoy every bite and not stress or obsess. I do drink green tea more now and tske supplements but i put honey in the tea. I used to try to avoid sugars. I really believe getting too hung up on "health" trends that change is an energy drain in general. I would like to eventually srike a balance.

    Hi Kelly,

Like you, I was blindsided by my diagnosis 5/12 of ER+ h2# cancer.  completely shocked because I thought I had a healthy lifestyle...no family history, normal weight.  I don't know why I got cancer, so I am eliminating as many carcinogens as I can to give my poor body an easier time of recovery from chemo, surgery, rads, meds, Herceptin and now, Femara for years. I've eliminated my nightly glass of wine -- now indulge only on special occasions and only if the wine is really good! Threw out all my cosmetics and replaced with clean lines (Astara, Ireland, EO). Walk or bike with my husband every day, weather permitting. Trying to get in more yoga, quiet time. Only organic food now...especially meats and dairy.  In fact, I have greatly reduced meat and dairy and have increased veggies & beans & nuts & seeds: chia, pumpkin, sunflower. Green juice when I'm feeling low energy, which happens often even though I am 10 months from my last Herceptin.

Wren, you are on the right track in embracing life and relaxing and finding a balance point. Emotional peace of mind is the most powerful form of healing.

Hi ladies! I'm new to this thread. I completed my Chemo last Tuesday and am ready and eager to move on with life. Of course, doing all I can to prevent a recurrence is a top priority.  I am taking a multi-strain probiotic, limiting sugar and high fat dairy and eating more fruits, veggies, legumes and whole grains. After my reconstruction, I also plan on rejoining the gym. I was wondering if anyone is taking vitamin supplements or have any other suggestions. I was also considering visiting a holistic doctor to help rebuild my health and immune system, but one that can respect my decision to also use traditional medicine as well. I would like the best of both worlds but sometimes feel like they are very strongly at odds
