cp418 - Thanks for your posts on the new developments in bc research.

"In general, peach fruit has chemical compounds that are responsible for killing cancer cells while not affecting normal cells as we reported previously, and now we are seeing that this mixture of compounds can inhibit metastasis," said Cisneros-Zevallos. "We are enthusiastic about the idea that perhaps by consuming only two to three peaches a day we can obtain similar effects in humans."

Two or three peaches a day may lead to diarrhea problems though. Perhaps they will develop a peach supplement capsule. In the meantime, though, I will up my consumption of peaches in general and peach pie in particular. Happy

Thanks for posting this cp. It's AWESOME when a food I love is found to kill cancer cells! Finally, some good news in the food department.

I would rather deal with diarrhea than cancer so I'd chance it.  Besides, I might drop a couple of pounds if my food keeps on going... Let's hope this is a break through!

Now this is cool! I wonder what we could do to eat them year round.

Oh yeah, I love peaches, and peach crisp! I wonder if dried peaches would work, too? I could chop them up and throw them in my oatmeal.

    http://breastcancer.about.com/b/2010/06/04/peaches-plums.htm

I forgot to put this up the other day, it's sort of old news. I found this awhile ago, you know silly me thinking I will fine the holy grail....I haven't adopted this one into my diet yet.

Plums are good too, according to the link that I posted.  But please read it because they suggest certain varieties but I believe any variety has some benefits.  I don't know if I have ever noticed them posting the varieties in the grocery store I do need to look next time, apples yes but peaches and plums not sure.

Yeah, here is the quote from the article "Extracts were taken from the "Rich Lady" peach and the "Black Splendor" plum, chosen because of their particularly high phenolic content."

Yes - very hard to find organic peaches and plums when not in season.  However, I was able to find organic dried plums (expensive) which are quite moist and tasty.
