I just saw this news story and studies the other night. I was just diagnosed BRCA2 and although it doesn't currently pertain to that gene, part of me feels like it's only a matter of time. I'm considering just doing a full hysterectomy at this point.

It's definitely an alarming study for those who still have their uterus. I hope some clear follow up info will be released soon.

It's been much more thoroughly studied (2007 study of Steve Narod). In Narod's study, they found out that almost all added risk was due to the use of tamoxifen in breast cancer survivors, or sometimes in chemopreventive use of tamoxifen by previvors (almost 1/3 of the women in Narod's study had tamoxifene; ages were generally postmenopausal; endometrial risk may have been as much as 12-fold increased). Outside of the tamoxifen group, potential uterine cancer risk increase was quite modest.

I suspect that in the new MSK study too, past tamoxifen use is the true reason for the uterine cancers, while mutations didn't have much to do with it.
