HER2+ Tumor Shrinking After First Chemo

I had my first TCHP infusion Wednesday afternoon and I noticed changes to my tumor within a day or so. It is now going on Day 5 and there are significant alterations to my tumor: it is less firm, it is smaller, some smaller lobes it had are disappearing.

I had about seven weeks from the time if my mammogram until neo adjuvant chemo started and while I was able to boost my reserves for treatment the tumor did continue to grow some. Now in a matter of days it is melting away.

I didn't expect such quick results. Did you have a similar experience with your HER2 malignancy?

(Day 4 post chemo was rough but I guess totally worth it).

    hi agness,

I had very similar results with my triple positive tumours once I started Herceptin. I had FEC-D chemo with Herceptin starting with the second D which is taxotere. Three rounds of FEC and three rounds of taxotere. I felt changes in my tumour with the FEC but I still had a tumour I could feel when I started the taxotere. I had an MRI five days after my first Herceptin treatment and the MRI came back negative for cancer. I had a complete pathological response to chemo once I had surgery, no cancer cells were present in the tissue samples taken out. So yes, it can work that fast: :)
