Lumpectomy vs Masectomy

I was just recently diagnosed with IDC in left breast. Surgeon said it is very small and he thinks I am an excellent candidate for lumpectomy and then 6 weeks of radiation. He would not tell me of course that is what I should do but I have to make a decision by Monday so I can have surgery on Thursday of next week. I am so confused on what to do. I am 45 and my mom has also had breast cancer.  My breast are large and if I get one removed I would probably want both gone with reconstruction but wondering if that is too extreme due to the size of the tumor being so small.  I am hoping for some comments that may help me make my decision.
