IDC
Just got told I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I am 31. I had an appointment for next Thursday but that place isn't in my insurance network. Neither is MD Anderson. Scott and White seems to be the only place I can go to for treatment. Which SUCKS. I've never heard anything about that place. I feel so heartbroken. Here I thought we had the ball rolling and now I don't know what's going to happen. I just want this cancer OUT!!

Coop,
This? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_%26_White_Memo...
From what I have read, they are good. They are affiliated with Texas A&M
-
Coop, where in Texas do you live?
-
Hi,
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
I just got the biopsy results today. I have in situ and invasive ductal carcinoma on my left breast. I don't have an appointment with a surgeon yet. I have a big lump and some smaller ones. My symptoms were the lump, pain in the breast and nipple size changes.
Trying to figure out my next steps and waiting.
Staying positive and we can beat this thing!!!

I am in west TX(Big Lake) I am feeling better about S&W. It might work out ok. Just ready to get things started.
Lolis- I'm wishing you all the luck. Mine has moved to my lymph system
-
coop, I've heard good things about scott & white & they recently merged with baylor which is good too
-
Coopdizzle Just wanted to say I watched your video...and was very moved. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this! But you can and will do this.! It's seems that there are so many fabulous women here to support you through. So please remember, you are not alone... Hug

I just got to read my labs. My mass total is 4.5cm the center is dead. I have 3 cancer lymph nodes, the largest is 1.5cm. From what I've read stage 2b is between 2-5cm with less than 4 infected lymph nodes. I have .5 cm and 1 lymph node to go then I hit stage 3? So many questions!
-
Yup that's the place

Hi honey, I am so very sorry for your diagnosis. I had IDC also. Coopdizzle, Take a deep breath in and out.....Been there. Right now, please try to stay positive, and, of all strong. That is the way to go through this. That is so hard to say and do. Have your Surgery and your treatment. And, take it slowly. One step at a time. One thing is keep your Faith. I will check back a little later. Bye now.

I am sorry you are both going through this. Everyone one here has been at the point you are at right now, and can relate to how you are feeling. Everyone told me it would get easier once a plan was put in place. And you know what...they were right.
If you need some meds to help with the anxiety Get Them!!! Vent on this forum, ask questions , and most definitely visit the Survival Stories section.
You have an inner strength you haven't even begun to tap yet... It will come.
And now just breathe!!
Take care,
Andrea

Coop, I read that S&W just opened up a radiation oncology dept in 2012. I would guess this means new, state-of-the-art equipment. Just in case you need rads.

Hanging in there. Today I am having a bit of fear. Since my mom beat it I've felt confident I will be ok. Today however, I' m a bit scared.

This is all so new to me as I was just diagnosed March 17th with IDC. I've had two separate opinions from doctors on what's going on... according to ultrasound and mammogram I have multifocal disease that shows 3 well differentiated tumors with a calcification behind the nipple. (I noticed the lumps as more of an all over thickening than a lump). Both doctors agree I need a mastectomy so I'm doing that for sure, but what I'm struggling with is one doctor thinks the three lumps/calcification are actually one cancer. This would make the cancer larger than I originally thought. They other doctor feels like it is 3 cancers that are all related. Does anyone have experience with this? It would just make a difference in the stage of my cancer (a stage 1 or2 vs a stage 3)
-
Coop, I'm soooo sorry! I'm 31 too with 3 little boys 7,5 and 1. I really do feel for you about just wanting it out. I thought it would get easier, but every day is getting harder because it's all starting to sink in. I hope you are doing okay
-
Hanging in there. I ready your story on a different thread tb. We are boobsom buddies lol
-
Perth, my diagnosis was a multifocal carcinoma and after the biopsy it was confirmed that I have in situ and invasive ductal carcinoma. The biopsy was performed on the same lump but two different samples were collected. The big lump is 2.3x1.6x1.8 cm and is 4 cm away from the nipple. The u/s and mammogram showed other smaller masses close to where the biggest lump is. Someone else explained that multifocal means one same tumor but in more/same area of the breast. Not sure if it would make a difference but I would think it would as it is one tumor instead of 3 different type of tumors.
Coop, think that your mom did beat this and you can too. Use your family and kids as your source of your strength.
Hugs

I am so lucky to have the support system I do. My brother had plans to move to Hawaii and has decided to wait until after surgery. Whenever that may be. He also shaved his head today. If anyone wants to I started a FB for family and friends to share on my journey.

I'd love it if you all shared your stories too.

OMGosh!!! I had called to make an appointment and she set it for April 7th. Then an hour later they called back and said TOMORROW!! Holy crap balls!! Here we go! Gloves are coming off and soon so will my nasty boobs! lol
-
Coop, happy for you that you have an appointment so quickly! Lookout IDC!
I was just diagnosed about 15 minutes ago with IDC, so here I am!
As
my Radiologist expected, the tumor was positive for cancer. He said that it has invaded (not sure if that was the word he
used) some of the breast tissue surrounding it, but he said that's
common and does not necessarily mean it has spread any further than
that. I asked if it was aggressive, and he said yes which is good and
bad. Good in that it's small (1.5cm) which means it hasn't been there
long - so I guess it's early. It's a small area and there's a good
chance that it's contained. That's how he put it. Nothing about stage or
grade or hormone stats that I see everyone on here has. Is that only
something they can only find out from the lumpectomy? I feel like I have less information than I should. Anyone? So there it is. And so it begins... the all out assault on the alien inside me.
My
appointment with the Surgical Oncologist is Friday at the Mayo Clinic,
and I will take the first available surgery appointment they can give
me. I'm type A, OCD personality and I will have the strength to get
through this, but I have to do it fast. I don't want a lot of lag time
to sit around and think about how terrible it is, and mostly how
defeated and scared I feel.Oh, did I mention that I was also
just laid off from my job. Yeah....there's that too. Luckily I have been
able to do a ton of freelance work to keep money coming in, and my MIL
has been a Saint. She's offered to pay for Cobra to help us through
this.Pity party has officially ended.>>>
<<<<The fight has started. And, as my Mom used to say (and Coop brought back this memory for me in her video) THIS TOO SHALL PASS...
-
I hear you. Yeah mine is huge and she put it in at urgent. Ready to go to battle. Sorry about your job. That blows. keep me posted on how things work out.
-
Coop so glad that they are getting you in tomorrow. Kick that f*&ker to the curb
And Dd, sorry to hear your Dx was positive as well.
Both of you ladies really do sound like you are ready to rally your troops and fight fight fight!!! Great attitude ladies!!
-
Coop, how did your appointment go? I have mine on Friday. Wondering what the consult is all about.
-
-
Coop saw your video (HUGS)…
I just wanted to let you know we do have women here who are TripNeg and make it past 5 years, so don't focus on that if you happen to be TripNeg.
Infact if that turns out to be what you are dealing with, google "Jennifer Griffen journalist" She is a journalist for Fox News that was diagnosed with TripNeg and blogged her own experience extensively and how she made some life changes, ANd she is doing FABULOUS!! ALMOST five years for her now.
Of course there is a forum here for TripNeg ladies as well who can give you the real deal up to date realities of TripNeg
-
That's good to hear. I have an appointment on Monday with an oncologist in a town closer to home for chemo. Ready to get better. I say that now but I'm sure I won't after my first chemo treatment.
