Hey Ladies-

My doctor doesn't think it's necessary to suppress my ovaries but I told him I wanted to do everything possible to remain cancer-free... I asked for Lupron shots and he agreed that while he doesn't recommend it, he would let me do it. Now that the appointment is getting closer I'm starting to have regrets. What do you think/ what has been your experience?

I had a stage 1a tumor with no LVI and a low Oncotype score. My oncologist (and 2 other 2nd opinions) recommended against chemo but suggested that there might be a benefit with ovarian suppression based on my young age (37). I have been on zoladex shots monthly for 10 months and am taking tamoxifen. It has not been terrible, but also not great (as if any of this is, right?!). My biggest issues are hot flashes and vaginal discomfort. The hot flashes are not awful, but I have to sleep with a fan on me! The vaginal issues create sexual issues which, of course, is no fun. Otherwise, this has been pretty tolerable so far and I do feel like it is giving me an edge on the beast (particularly with no chemo)... I'm waiting on the SOFT results to decide about taking my ovaries out... Good luck to you!

    Hi

did about 3 years of monthly lupron shots along with an AI..... it was not awful---- made me a little fuzzy headed, but that could have also been the chemo.. went off about 2 years ago now.... head less fuzzy-does cause vaginal dryness...... but overall, not the worst--but remember, everyone reacts differently.  You can try it and if you hate it, you can stop...
