What does it mean.
the MRI says there is a t2 isotense to slightly hyper tense mass measuring 2.5tuesday 3.0 by 3.4cm. Also another mass measuring 1.5x1cm. And a couple 3-4 mm nodules.there is diffuse segmental enhancement in a linear distribution that extends from 1/2cm from nipple to 7 cm posteriorly towards chest wall.suggestive of diffuse extensive ductal carcinoma.... Left auxiliary nodes are enlarged and pathologic in addition there is an interpectoralis lymph node identified which has a focal irregular nodule at one end and is suggestive of metastatic disease.

anyone????

It means that you won't know a thing for SURE until there's a biopsy or surgery. In the meantime, try to stay calm and remember that sometimes a shadow on the wall that is "suggestive" of a burglar turns out to be your dog. Yes, they see stuff that COULD be something and needs to be checked out, but don't panic!
-
jess - ..looks like the lymph nodes were involved, and the cancer diffuse in the breast....I couldn't understand if it implies mets to lymph nodes or anything.
pls go thru this with your BS...my doctors never give me any report without meeting face to face. it's too scary to read and guess those technical terms...
-
Appt with oncologist tomorrow. Just really scared!!! Worries me that it says suggestive of metastatic disease .
-
Jesskap,
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I promise you will feel better after your appointment tomorrow because you will be given answers and a plan. I will be thinking and praying for you tomorrow.
Hugs!
-
it sounds like it mets to the lymph nodes. based on my experience reading path report. the whole sentence was talking about your axillary nodes...so i don't think it meant mets to distance...
(((hugs)))...if you need to take a pill to relax or sleep do it. the worst is unknown....
we are here for you.

Thanks I will give an update tomorrow.

Biopsies were not ready yet. Oncologist said from his clinical judgement it is inflammatory breast cancer. Biopsy results will probably be back tomorrow. Scheduled for a PET scan on Friday. Researching IBC and it's pretty scary! How does everyone feel about clinical trials versus contemporary treatments?
-
jess - i was just thinking about you. i am sorry to hear that. i don't know what is the difference between the two. the contemporary treatments were clinically tried. if you are doing a clinical trial, means you will be participating in some new drug testing?
-
So sorry, Jesskap,
You should check out the IBC forum. Those ladies will be able to answer your questions. Keep us informed, too. We care!
-
oh that's a good idea...i didn't think of that...
jess - how are you doing?? from my experience, if you want to take a few days off, may be you should. so you can clear your head and think and go to doc appts and do your own researches. and you should always ask for second opinions...for IBC, i understand the doc would want to treat it ASAP...so i think take a few days off to focus on your health could benefit you a lot.
(((hugs)))

biopsy results showed cancer is not inflammatory but triple negative locally advanced stage 3b. PET scan showed several spots behind lungs that could be early spreading or just inflammation. Also showed a spot on cervix!!! Went to GYN today and found out its cervical cancer. Dr does not think the two are related. Really?!?!? They want to treat breast cancer first with chemo then do a mastectomy and hysterectomy at the same time then do radiation on a pectoralis lymph node. Dr says he can cure it but it all sounds really bad to me. Does anyone have experience with two cancers at the same time??
-
Hi Jess, Sorry about the Diagnosis. Its hard to take all this in at once. Remember, to keep your Faith and be Strong. You will get through this. Prayers are there for you.

Hi Jesskap. We're sorry you're going through all this... but glad you found this wonderful community.
Besides the great advise and support you're receiving in this thread, you may also want to take a look/post in the Mixed Type Breast Cancer forum, where you can read stories of others with two cancers at the same time.
Also, we recommend you to visit the section Breast Cancer 101 of the main Breastcancer.org site. It is place designed for those newly diagnosed that will help you learn more about what to expect now.
We hope this helps,
The Mods
