Cyclical pain after DIEP?

Hi there

I had DCIS and had a mastectomy and DIEP reconstruction on my right boob back in late 2011. All okay touch wood however I have noticed increasing breast pain in the recon breast before my period. I always used to have mild tenderness and pain in both breasts before my DCIS. Since the operation the recon breast is painful before a period, and this period that I am due now the pain is much much worse, like a constant twinging that comes and goes. I have put on half a stone in the last couple of months since xmas and so boobs have got bigger, bra feels tighter etc so wondering if this is exacerbating the problem. Is it because I still have some breast tissue there that I get this pain do you think? Don't think it's phantom pain as only get it before period, and don't think it merits going to doctors as I say I only get it at this time, the rest of the time no pain at all, I am just curious and wondered if anyone here could shed some light on it or share this problem?

I had my DIEP 5 years ago and I have noticed strange pains. I think it is just the nerves trying to recover. I also noticed pains since I stopped the hormone therapy. I am well past menopause but it could be my body making adjustments. My pain moves around on both sides reconstructed side and real side. I think that indicates nerves.
