Growing up I had a handful of friends and family who constantly struggled with cancer and the cancer treatment process. It was very difficult to be so young and wish that there was something I could do for these people in my life and knowing that all I was truly able to do was be there for them, since I wasn't really old enough to help them with any tasks that they couldn't do themselves or assist them financially. After one of these individuals (my neighbor) eventually passed, I began to open my eyes to the world of resources and tools that are made to help people deal with cancer.

Now that I'm a graduate of Health Policy & Administration, I happen across these tools quite often. I'd like to share a few of them with you, and invite all of you to post ones that you've found. Perhaps something that one of us posts will have a genuinely positive impact on the life of a loved one at some point!

http://www.lifecreditcompany.com- This is a financial resource that seems to be particularly useful. It allows cancer patients to borrow money against their life insurance policies so that they can pay for their treatment, or just pay for day-to-day expenses while they are going through treatment.

http://www.cancer.gov/bcrisktool/- This is an online risk assessment tool - It might seem like common sense, but when I found this tool I didn't know a single female who was using it. No online risk assessment tools is perfect, but they can be good indicators.

https://watsi.org/- This is a crowdfunding platform that allows individuals who require treatment to crowdfund their treatment by connecting with potential donors around the world.

Let me know if any of these are helpful to any of you! Also feel free to post your own helpful, modern resources for individuals with cancer.
