Could this be "cording?"

Hi All,

I'm two weeks post op on right side lumpectomy and lymph node removal, and yesterday I've started getting a tight-feeling pain that runs on the underside of my arm down to my elbow...I've had the same sensation shoot down to my wrist, but mostly it stops at the elbow.  At first I figured I need to do more stretching exercises, but the more I try, the more this pain feels more than just plain tightness.  I saw the RO for the first time today and he was a little surprised I couldn't lift my arms above my head, and this is why I'm getting worried.  Could this be cording?  I will put a call into my BS tomorrow, but wondering if anyone here has had this.

it sounds very similar to what I was feeling last week.  I met with my OT last week and she confirmed cording, applied pressure and after several painful pops that I could feel or hear my range of motion improved and pain was gone.  I see her again Thursday and believe I have another one based on pain from elbow to wrist on the underside of my arm.

Good luck...if it is cording you have a relatively easy fix.

It definitely sounds like cording.  A physio-therapist will help a great deal.  I had it post surgery also and with stretching, it went away on its own.  I think my situation was quite mild.  However, now that I am in radiation therapy, I am noticing that it is returning.  Will get to a physio this time asap.  It is treatable, but as it does increase chances of LE, it is critical to start therapy soon.
