I saw a photo of a Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling. No low branches to jump to. I wouldn't mind doing that to save space in the tiny living room. We have a stand that DH's parents had when he was a child. It's iron, holds water, and has wide legs making it hard to tip. Perfect for cats and kids.

Spookie - too funny! Wren - my friend hangs her tree from the ceiling due to cats and dogs.
