We hope to snowbird to Fla this winter, taking 2 of our 4 cats. I read about feliway as a way to calm them as they travel. Im very nervous about driving them such a long distance (from Ill), and looking at different carriers for the car.
-
Aviva, We made a cage with a wire top so the cat could see out and drove her from Texas to Alaska. We moved from Texas to Washington with 2 cats and a litter of kittens. They were loose in the car. I think they are more upset with smaller carriers because that's how they get to the vet. You might try leash training before the trip. Then they could go outside for walks. Our current cat is only allowed outside with his leash. He was about 8yrs old when we adopted him in Feb. so not trained as a kitten.

Happy birthday, Sas and Chevy!

What part of Florida were you thinking about? If I can be any help, pm me. And always love to meet BCO sisters. Just ask Chevy!!! Who better be coming back this year.
-
Sorry that I'm late to the party, but just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAS AND CHEVY!
-
Aviva - we moved 2 cats from Las Vegas to New Zealand.
Advice we were given in addition to Feliway and Rescue Remedy (in their water) was to get the cages as early as possible and set them up in the house where the cats hang out and are comfortable, such as the living room. Take some pillow cases or small blankets that you've slept on and put them in the cages and leave the cages open. The cats will hang out in them and get used to them.
Ours still complain a bit in the car, but at the vet, everyone remarks on how mellow they are in the cage when they have to stay. And it's less of a battle to get them into the cages.
Good luck with the move!

Julie, that was a Taco Belle.

I just got back from a week "off the grid" near Yosemite. I especially liked the California Sister butterfly like this one.
-
Yes Oncowarrior! Taco Belle. I couldn't remember the caption that went with that picture.
