Hey all - glad I found this thread. I had dmx w/o recon three weeks ago, and do not plan on foobies at all. I have lost a lot of weight and none of my clothes fit and I am not sure how to shop for my body now. I went today and felt so sad I have no idea how to shop flat. I read the blog erica has which did help some. I think I have to change how I dress - I am short and used to sport jeans/t-shirt a lot. now i do not want to look like a boy - so trying to find appropriate clothes; i am not a big jewelry person - meaning not very girly. I like reading what some of you did to help get over the change in body design. i do not regret my decision one bit, but still anxious to leave the house. i feel confused.

hi, I'm 5 weeks from my MX and implant removal. I'm really into the shopping phase at this point, trying to figure the look out. I've been back at work for two weeks and was really glad the weather cooled down, so I could begin to layer. Otherwise I was running out of stuff to wear. That seems to be the trick for me. A shirt, vest, or sweater over a cami or t shirt. I hate that this will be my new uniform. And it sure is a harder way to shop. But I am finding some outfits that work, remember it does not have to be perfect, it only matters that you feel good and normal. Get shopping!

I find that V-necks drape better than crew necks.

I chose to remain flat because I had a lot of post mastectomy pain syndrome and when it finally went away I wasn't going to wake sleeping dogs with any kind of reconstruction. I wear knitted knockers out because I have that tummy just below the breasts that sticks out but I am actively losing weight to help with this. I always say my body is trying to grow new breasts below the others. Lol. But I am surviving two bouts of breast cancer and I buy what I like. Plaids work well, vests, those long thin cover-ups, and the long sweaters. I wear different hats too....deflects from the chest...but mostly I just want to lose the weight, enjoy my life that was saved and perhaps because I am an OLD gal at 66 but YOUNG at heart, I am less concerned than if I were 30. I don't know....been a bit of a rogue all my life. Ask my 18 tarantulas! lol!!!!

    Hi Everyone,

I just got my diagnosis today... DCIS. So I am very happy that it is not worse! I had already decided that if there is any cancer that I'll get double mastectomies with no reconstruction and no foobs. I'm going all-natural and unashamedly-- going to rock my flatness like a bada$s! I have the consult with the surgeon on Wednesday and hope to have these puppies off my chest by the end of next week. I'm 47 years old and married to the best, most supportive husband. I have an appointment tomorrow to get my longish curly hair cut short-and-cute to make it easier to take care of while recovering from surgery. I will be rockin' a whole new look all the way around! Thank you all for having such a wonderful outlook on your flatness and paving the way for this adventure I'm interring into!
