Barb--you're welcome. I believe a main consideration is whether you feel comfortable with the doctor. Get all your questions answered... how many of these procedures has the doctor done? Are there any stats on the success rate of her surgeries? Any online reviews? What type of screening have you had done so far?
I'm beginning to notice some changes in my cancer side arm (right) and I'm very concerned that I might be developing LE in spite of the pro-active LVA. My surgeon successfully connected four lymph channels during surgery so I'm fairly confident that those are providing some level of drainage, but I'm well aware that none of these procedures come with guarantees. I have an appointment with my surgeon next month and I'm going to inquire about having additional bypasses done. Good luck to you and let us know how it goes.
