Pain while taking Femara.

Hello.  My name is Eva and I was diagnosed with ER positive and PR positive breast cancer fifteen months ago.  I have Mets to my bones and have been on Femara since my diagnosis.   I also receive a shot of denausumab monthly.  I have severe pain in my bones although all of my tests are coming back good as well as my blood work.  Does anyone experience this?  Is it from the Femara?   Or is it possible the PET scans, CAT scans and MRI's are missing something?

Hi Eva, so sorry you are feeling such pain.   It's most unlikely that the PET and CT's are missing things so please don't worry on the side of things.

Both the Denosumab and the Femara can cause bone pain as a SE.  Are you taking calcium and Vit D?  These are recommended by the manufacturers of Denosumab as it can cause low calcium levels and this will cause bone pain as well.  Movement is your best recourse for the pain from Femara.......it doesn't get rid of it but it can make it feel a whole lot better.

It is very unfortunate that in order to have a life we need to put up with all these SEs but a little research and or a conversation with your docs should be able to give you a better quality of life.

    Love n hugs.    Chrissy
