Antibiotics for mastitis for 3 months...no idea what was wrong. She then began to vomit daily! Couldn't even drink water. Rushed to the ER and ead admitted due to vomiting and stomach pain. They did a ct on her belly and came back kind of worried. She then had an ultrasound done. Never once did anyone look at the possible mastitis!!! Finally she asked someone to look at it and they became more concerned. Her breast felt like concrete. Didn't jiggle or anything. Yes...she's 24 but just had a set of twins a year ago. 3 days later we finally convinced them we wanted a biopsy because she was only getting worse laying there. Biopsy came back.  It was cancer. Now what!!! The original ct scan showed nothing of concern the Wednesday night she was brought in. She was confirmed cancer on Friday. On Sunday more ct scans and ultrasounds were done. It at metastisized to her arm bone...her rib...her sternum and her overlies. She had to have stints put in her kidneys before they would start treatment because they were swelling and shutting down! She had her first round of chemo Friday evening. And her twins turned 1 Saturday. This has all been a mess because the hospital she's at seems to know nothing about what needs to be done.We are ttransferring her out. She's in Mississippi now and we are taking her to Cincinnati. I am her older sister. We have 5 aunts....3 have passed from breast cancer. I had my brcn 1 and 2 screen done Friday. I am prepared as I can be for what's next with me but I am more concerned with her. What so we do! Where do we turn. Were taking her to a teaching hospital that had doctors that come from the Cleveland clinic who will see her. I feel so helpless and scared!!!!

UC is a good hospital.  My BFF works there for a breast surgeon.  Glad you are moving her up there.  Saying prayers for her!!

sister, I am so very sorry, this should never happen to a 24 year old. She is lucky to have you, this is a nightmare for all of you. Take one day at a time, it will get better once she has a treatment plan. Also, she needs to have anxiety & sleeping meds. We all hit the wall emotionally and it gets worse if you are sleep deprived.

Dang this beast is unrelenting with so many young women. We are all praying for your sister. I know several people who went to the Cleveland Clinic. It is one of the best. You are a good sister; she is going to need all the support you can muster. You have a family history which is never a good thing but you cant control that - btw I have the family history too - my sister and I both have BC. I hope she has a supportive husband too...those babies are so young...we are praying for all of you. Keep us posted. Diane
