Tingling and slight numbness

My surgery (lumpectomy + sentinel node dissection) was August 29th; I haven't had any suspected LE symptoms, but suddenly today, my arm feels slightly numb and tingly.  Is this cause for concern?  If so, is there anything I should (or should not) do?  Would you call MO at this point, or would you see if this persists?  I don't notice any visible swelling or plumping up.  Thanks in advance!

Cecilia~yes, it could be lymphedema.  Fortunately you are aware and seeking help because if in fact it is lymphedema, the sooner you see to it, the better.  Here is a wonderful web site for you to look through and many of your questions will be answered.  I assume you are in the U.S. so I'm unsure of the protocol but I suspect you will need a referral from your MO to a therapist specializing in lymphedema as a result of breast cancer treatment.  Elevate your arm, drink lots of water, and rest it as much as you can.  Here is the site I think you'll find most helpful until others chime in here.  http://www.stepup-speakout.org/diagnosing_lymphedema.htm

I would call and get a refural to a CERTIFIED LymphEdema Therapist (not to some PT who claims they 'know all about LE').   The sooner you get evaluated and education the better.
