PKD/PLD and BC?

Options

Anyone else out there with polycystic kidney or liver disease going through treatments for breast cancer?  I'd like to compare notes to see how others are coping with the side effects of chemo along with symptoms of PKD.  I have good function, but a lot of discomfort, especially from my liver.

Hi marvelher2, yes I have PLD and PKD and breast cancer. When I was first diagnosed my onco said no chemo for me, because there isn't much info about how PLD & PKD will react to chemo. But with grade 3 and one lymph node I was determined to give chemo a go, so I got another onco who was great and he gave me the choice.

My liver stood up well to the chemo, in fact it almost seemed to improve my PLD symptoms. How are you doing?

Hi ladies, I have severe kidney disease and was just diagnosed with BC stage 3. I'n scared to death they won't be able to do anything for me. I see a surgeon tomorrow. Karen

kbirk1950, we're thinking of you!! Listed here are some treatments that would not be recommended (Kidney problems), but there are fortunately many different treatment options out there! Please let us know what the surgeon and medical oncologist suggest.

Hi ladies, well, I had surgery January12 (left mastectomy) and the surgeon said he was looking for clear margins and found them. A week later I started chemo A/C 4 weeks of it and i'm now in 12 weeks of Taxotere. (8weeks left) once a week. Radiation is next. So far my kidneys have been better then when i started chemo. Not sure how that can be but it's true. The A/C wiped me out and I was inthe hospital for a couple days with a 0.9 wbc and fever. They found no infection and I have been doing okay ever since, just very tired at times. Karen
