I just received my score yesterday and it was 19. I was a little shocked because BS was pretty positive before the test that I would not need Chemo. I am so torn on what to do. I meet with my Oncologist on Feb. 4 to discuss my results. I would love to hear from women with similar numbers on what they decided and why.

Jenn - my score was 11 so I didn't have to make THE decision fortunately. Surf this forum to find the topic that talks about Oncotype scores. I think the ladies, and some Oncologists, are divided on the treatment plan especially when a score like yours is in the intermediate stage. My sister has BC as well - lobular - and her Oncologist determined she didn't need to do chemo or Rads. My sister is pretty close to the vest so she didn't say what her score was but she did say her Oncologist said her score didn't convince her to go either way. Not sure what that means but my guess is she had an intermediate score. She had a MX and is on Arimidex. I think there are other factors to consider other than the Oncotype score as to what treatment plan your Oncologist will recommend. I was told the grade of your tumor was also a consideration as well as age. Oncologists tend to be more aggressive with younger patients. Come back after you meet with your Oncologist. Diane

sorry to hear you are going through this. Have you been diagnosed with Ductal Cancer In Situ (DCIS) or Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC). I ask because it is unusual for those to be diagnosed with DCIS to get the test much less be advised to get chemo. If you have invasive cancer, I would suggest posting this on the IDC board where there are many women who are currently discussing or who have discussed how to proceed based on their scores. If you do have DCIS, Stage 0 and have had the test, someone with more info than me will eventually post.
