Hello,

I did not know this but almost 40% of reconstruction fails (new data) after the first try.  I was one of the lucky 40%.  i just had anatomically correct implansts put in on 1/6/14.  i wanted  to the dr. to take everything out but was told i would look bad since i already had reconstruction once.  i look great but hate myself.  i hate plastic surgery.  the dr did phrnominal work but i dont even want to look at myself in the mirror....i have not done so since the first surgery.  the people i work with aka supervisors think i am just supposed to srping back after surgery.  i cannot stand my life as it is.  if i had to do it over again i would have let nature take its course.  i had dcis stage 0 pno(i+) with 2 out of six lymph nodes.  this whole reconstruction deal has make me feel old beyong my years.  not depressed, just over it.

anyone else feel this way?

Maybe not the wrong forum. Depends if you want advice from women who chose not to have reconstruction. Among this group, there are a number of women who chose reconstruction but eventually had implants removed and are now living breast-free.

Question: Where did you get that data? I'm not aware that the number is that high.

So sorry you feel this way, but it is very early days for you. You're still healing and it is a lot to process. Give yourself some time before you make any big decisions about keeping or removing your implants.

We do have a number of members here who have had their implants removed and are very happy with the results, so if it is something you think you might want to do, it would be worth searching for information from some of these ladies.

I am a little confused. Is it 40% of the subsequent surgeries, after the initial failure?

Or is it stating 40% of all recon????
