So scared

Options

Last week I had a biopsy after 3 nodes showed up on an ultrasound, and of course they tested positive for cancer. I just feel so scared and so angry. I have a 3 year old I want to see grow up, I just got a new job that I love.  A great husband, friends and family that I don't want to have to see me go through this again and so soon. And I am just so, so mad because I did everything they told me to do...the whole "slice, poison, and burn" thing not to mention the tamoxifen. I just hate this so much. Thanks for listening!

My youngest was 13 when I was first diagnosed back in 2005 and that was difficult but having a 3 year old and having to deal with what you are dealing with breaks my heart.  Please stay strong.

Kelly279, I'm so so sorry.  That said, many women live for a long time with mets.

You may still see your child grow up, and there's no reason to quit your job.  Quality of life becomes the most important part of treatment, and particularly if you have ER+ cancer you'll start with hormonal treatments.  Not anywhere near as harsh as the ACT you had last time.

You'll also feel better once you have a treatment plan in place.

Come on over to the Stage IV thread and ask any questions you may have.

I haven't said all this right (sorry -- hormonal brain); other ladies will come along with more coherent advice.

    Kelly,

I am so sorry for what you are going through and I would be mad also. Post again and share how things are going . I will pray for you. Meanwhile, I want to share also that there are certain things you may want to consider along with the standard medical treatments you may offered, such as avoiding copper supplements in vitamins, increase cruciferous veggies ( broccoli sprouts-look at articles on John Hopkins Research ) and take selenium to name a few. I found these and other info in

    http://www.integrativeoncology-essentials.com/star...

     and

    http://www.lef.org/protocols/cancer/radiation_ther...

I do not know if this will help me as I am in middle of my rad treatments post op now, but I am trying to do what I can and learn as much as I can.

    God bless.

Thank you all for your kind words! I had a PET scan recently and while there is cancer in the nodes it hasn't made its way anywhere else. Now I am waiting for my treatment plan and praying no chemo...although I know it's likely.
