Hello -  I went for a routine mammogram on Jan 10, and was diagnosed with tubular carcinoma on Jan 13. My radiologist suggested NYU as a first cancer center to check out. I scoured these boards for the candid comments & scoop and felt good that NYU could be one possibility for me.

I met with Dr. Amber Guth.  Everyone from the initial check-in professionals, to the nurses, medical assistants, MRI specialists - were kind and very respectful. I liked Dr Guth quite a bit, as did my husband.

Just a week ago - I had no idea that I would be needing this info. Thanks so much to those who shared experiences to help me decide that my radiologist's recommendation made sense to investigate. I hope that someone very newly diagnosed and scared witless - like me - might take comfort in knowing that there are a lot of kind and comforting people out there to help us when we start our research on the best solutions for our care. I have more research to do, but again, thanks very much to those who gave input and helped me get this first visit under my belt.  And I want to add a funny comment.  When we walked into the hospital, we were offered coffee. The woman behind me - in true NY - style said "Yeah, well Hospital for Special Surgery passes around snacks! Where's the snacks?" Priceless.

Love, Teddy.
