large hard lump at previous cancer site

I had double mastectomy in Oct. 2013 with immediate reconstruction DIEP. I just noticed a large firm lump at almost exact place where original cancer was. It feels almost exactly like the lump that was cancerous. i was told margins were clear after mastectomy. Has anyone had something like this turn out to be recurrence of cancer this large (feels like a golf ball) and so soon? I was already scheduled to have second stage of breast reconstruction done on 21st. My surgeon says any lumps will be biopsied at that time. My surgeon thinks this is probably fat necrosis but because of where it is and how it feels, I cant stop thinking it is a recurrence. Has anyone had an experience like this?

My stats:Stage 2b grade 2 triple negative BRCA1(3875del4) breast cancer at age 36

My wife just went through the same thing as you. She was 3 months post mastectomy when we found 2 small lumps. It turned out to be nothing and was not a recurrence. The key she told me was did the lump have any color? Because an active tumor must have blood flow. In our case it was skin color and was not pink or red. Does your have any color? It is extremely rare to have something show up so soon per the doctor and actually in all her years she has never seen one case and she has been doing this for a long time. Take one day at time and dont worry. Enjoy every day. I hope that helps.
