bloody nose?

Noticed a big chunk of blood in my tissue this morning!  I thought I read somewhere that was normal. It's only happening when I blow.

Hi stacey! Sorry for that. As our main site says, chemotherapy is one of the breast cancer treatments that can cause nosebleeds. Please take a look at the linked article for information and tips on managing this side effect. Anyway, our recommendation is that you ask your doctor if it continues bleeding, just in case you need to change some medication.

hi stacy5971, I had nosebleeds with chemo, like you mostly when I blew my nose. I found my nose got dry and crusty leading to the nosebleeds.  I mentioned it to my MO and he recommended that I use Vaseline inside my nostrils and to let him know if it got worst. I ended up using a lubricating nasal spray and a humidifier at night. That kept things under control.

Stacey...I experienced the same side effect.  Grossed my husband out!   With all the other stuff going on through chemo, I was glad to find out it was a "normal" side effect.  Yes, my expectations dropped quite a bit during that time, but once you are through with treatment, you will be amazed at how strong you really are!

thank you for the suggestions. im going to try a nasal spray too and maybe invest in a humidifier. anything to help. its not horrible yet, but i no need to make it worse.

I had the same problem and I can really recommend Ayr saline nasal gel.
