Is it normal to have a CT Scan after the lumpectomy?

Hello,

I have to admit.  I'm having a panic attack.  My mother saw her oncologist today to discuss her treatment.  It seemed strange to me that they wanted to do a CT Scan and another test to make sure the cancer had not spread.  Is this normal?

Hi. I have had a bone scan and a ct scan since my operation.  I know for my doctors and hospital these are normal tests they have us pass but not sure how other institutions work.   Hope this helps

I had CT & bone scans after my MX before starting chemo. My Onc wanted a baseline. No scans since.

I had a CT scan and a bone scan after my mx. It wasn't protocol but my onc thought it would make me feel better. Good results DID make me feel better!

I had a PET scan after lumpectomy (before chemo) to make sure there were no metastases. I think it was standard protocol for my Drs.

I had a CT at original diagnosis.  If your Mom hasn't had one at all yet, they absolutely should do one.  It's good medical care.

yes, the Drs need to make a plan of treatment..I had a PET scan after lumpectomy, I assumed because I had so many nodes involved...but it is common with all cancers to do scans..
