Beebop - do call your doctor tomorrow morning or if fever spikes. Watch carefully as it could be a sign of possible infection (or flu). I am not sure which would be worse.
Donna - you sound fabulous!
Re slippers: if you are not a "slipper wearer", don't buy them for this moments occasion. Flip flops are fine, as are slip on flats or clogs. I walked the halls in my hospital provided non-skid socks. Loved them.
-
Donna- you sound really great! Rest as much as you can and don't overdue it! No pain killers! You are super woman!
Beebop- sorry you are not feeling well, hope things turn around quickly. Ginger ale is my favorite medicine.
-
fever spiked so I do have a call in. Of course my PS is in Peru!
-
Prayers for you Beebop!
-
oh no Beebop! Hugs to you.
-
antibiotics on the way! Man I hope the take care of it fast. This is worse that the surgery! Thanks for thoughts and prayers.
-
Donna, you sound awesome I am going to pray I feel like Donna when I wake up from mine. Can I ask how much tummy you had to work with, and how tight are you pulled? The tummy thing is my biggest fear.
So glad you are in hardly any discomfort. Way to go.
-
today was up and down kind of day - the best part of my day finally pooping (sorry!). my tummy is what hurts the most. he did some work in my upper abdomen to tighten the muscles. I think i overdid it yesterday getting up and down like a superstar. I'm doing about 40 laps around my house a day. I'm sleeping flat so that's nice but i am a side sleeper and it's killing me. i only have 1 drain putting out junk now so hoping all or 3 get pulled on Tuesday.
Beebop - i've been on antibiotics since leaving the hospital. Hope they kick in soon, they should! Hope you feel better soon.
-
Beebop, I hope the pharmacy was close by. I've heard the roads are horrible up there. All the schools are closed here for tomorrow.
I'm hoping Bella had an early flight this morning before it really got bad. And that she learns enough to make her decision s.
-
iowagirl, yes it is close. My husband has a big SUV. Schools are closed here tomorrow too. What a crazy winter this has been!
Jenjen - I am not sure why they didn't have me on an antibiotic when I left the hospital. I could have avoided a couple of terrible days. Sounds like you are doing great! Try not to overdo it !
-
Beebop - glad the antibiotics are on the way. Get lots of rest, eat healthy and stay hydrated. The antibiotics can dehydrate especially if you're also taking pain meds. Sending healing thoughts..
-
Goldie, I am pulled very, very tight. I did not have a huge belly to begin with. They cut the flap & used 2/3 of it to make a B size cup. The other 1/3 they tossed.
-
Thanks, Donna. That gives me some perspective. They are going to try to get two B cups out of mine, and I have been working on putting it on. Can you stand up straight yet?
-
definitely cannot stand straight up - pulled very tight. I don't see how I am going to stand up straight for a long time.
-
Donna you rock chick glad all is well
Becky hope the antibiotics kick in ASAP get better
Count dine for surgery on Thursday and this crazy Houston weather is not cooperating ice on Friday 70's on today and back to ice on Tuesday (rolls eyes)
-
Snickers weighs 8 lbs. This is the path we dug Sun. a.m. and she has her own snow blower for the patio before this path. Just wanted to share. It is going to be very cold this week. I read temp. in San Antonio on Tuesday is 40 degrees. Have a good evening all. Kat
-
Opps sorry about deleting. I was posting the pathway we dig for Snickers. Snickers has her own snow-blower for the patio. The pathway has to be there b/c she has to see what is going on past the deck but right now the snow is a bit tall for her to even jump in. She loves the snow!!
-
Geez, snow in Houston. What will they think of next...lmaoooooo
Donna, are you using a walker to support your back. I think I am going to borrow one just in case I might need it. I have lower back issues anyway, so why tempt fate.
Kat, that is to sweet. You have to shovel a path for the pup! I remember when I lived in NY the salt they would put down on the roads would burn my dogs paws I couldn't figure out what was wrong the first time it happened. She just sat down and started to cry. Gosh that stuff was awful.
-
Goldie, I wasn't allowed to use a walker in the hospital. Too much pressure on the flaps? As you know, I don't remember much about my hospital visit....
-
LOL, Jeannie. I miss Wilbur. Nobody talks much about him anymore. He better be there for me when it's my turn. I am counting on him.
-
Goldie,
Yes I have a walker and used it during all of my walking yesterday. It is different from a regular walker - it is very high, maybe chest height & you rest your elbows on it to walk. They said today that I will be walking around not using it. I get discharged tomorrow.
-
getting discharged today! I don't like it here & I am doing well, so I convinced them to let me leave early. Everyone is very nice & the care is superb, but no one likes being in a hospital!
-
Becky, glad you got meds! Jeni, take it easy! Donna, congrats on going home! Goldie, I had a big belly, he made 2 D's out of it. So tight! I need to lose weight before stage 2 but it was good for stage 1.
-
Donna, I don't think I'll be able to stand up straight for a very long time either. Today the worst part of this is definitely the tight skin on my tummy. What a weird, unpleasant feeling. How long does it take to stretch a little? My me boobs look really good though. 😊 I'm hoping it's not just swelling. Lol.
-
Donna - yay! Congrats on going home!
-
This week's flappers...make room in your pockets for us!
- January 27... TBerg... stage I DIEP - Baltimore, MD (Dr. Bluebond-Langner)
- January 29...Rachlmarch.... stage I DIEP - Cleveland Clinic
- January 30... southerngirl1974... stage I DIEP
Tberg we are in your pockets, sista.....you are well into your long nap by now. See you on the flap side.Rachlmarch and southerngirl1974.....just a few more "sleeps" and "wakeups" and your anticipation will be over.Donna please be so very careful going home and being home. Prayers for you.Jmb....many of us were very tight for many weeks. I am praying for healing and patience for you.Flap surgeries are most definitely an exercise in patience.I used a walker (regular size....but I am a short girl) in the hospital and at home. My little grandma passed away a few months before my diep so I just kept her walker at my house. It just made me feel more steady. I had dizziness from "whatevermed" so it really helped to have something to hang on to.Blessings all. -
Tberg, Rachlmarch, and southern girl- thinking of you this week and sending warm hugs your way. You are going to do great. Also thinking of all those that just had surgery and wishing you speedy healing. Hugs to all!
-
jmb,
My new breasts & tummy look very good, I think - very symmetrical. I saw my ps before being discharged this morning. She said that things look great now - but warned me that it may change. They have to settle quite a bit & the swelling needs to go down. So, she said she can correct them & make them symmetrical in stage 2 if needed.
-
Donna, I am absolutely floored that you are already home!!! Take it easy, rest and rest and rest and walk a little then rest and rest and rest. I was a full 12 weeks before I was upright, but I was pulled super tight. Don't push it, it'll come.
All the best to this week's ladies!
-
thank you ladies for all your warm thoughts and encouragement still confused what to pack I did buy 2 out gowns from Walmart that button up the front wanted pants but do not know his that will feel on the tummy
