Hi ladies,

Just want to start a thread for those whose chose to have UMX and reconstruction to share your experiences--- how did you come to the decision; what was your chosen reconstructive procedure and whether you are satisfied with the end results. Any symmetry issues? And what do you preventatively to try to keep the healthy side as healthy of a long time as possible?

Almost 4 wks post op UMX--DCIS and whole bunch of other busy stuff:(

Happy holidays!!

Horse02- I am also a UMX with implant reconstruction. My choice to keep my "healthy" breast was a long and thought out decision, not an easy one by any means. I spent many a sleepless night, reading and researching my options. My PS informed me that using my own tissue was not going to be an option for me, not enough tissue, could have fooled me. Anyway I am a year and 3 months past my MX, soon to be one year past my exchange, and 7 months past my revision. January 22nd I get my 3D tattoo with Renee in FL. No nipple reconstruction my skin is too thin and my PS has a fear that it may cause complications and I certainly don't need anymore of those.

I'm good with my results, my PS did an amazing job. I still have aches and pains, and sometimes just want to rip the implant off my chest, but I am adjusting slow as it may be. You know good days and bad days. I don't regret keeping one breast and I hope to keep it for a long time, but only time will tell. I exercise 5 days a week, try and eat healthy, (I didn't eat bad before), and continue to get my mammogram with my BS and once a year see my MO for follow ups. Other than that it is out of my control.
