I took a regression analysis course for my graduate studies many moons back, needless to say I hated that class because it was all about survival analysis on breast cancer cases. That was 15 years ago..

Always naively thought breast cancer has nothing to do with me because I have always been the healthy one-- I love greens and fruits, and I workout a lot to reduce stress, and I have BMI of 18.8. I am a skinny 5'5" 108 most of my life. I am 47. I breastfed for 12  months because my son had allergies. Now looking back, my major risk factors would be late pregnancy(35), birth control pills(5years total), and this one is big--family history although I have not been tested yet. My mom was diagnosed with stage III at 68 5 years ago and she is Not cancer free as of today. Well, I have to admit stress, and too much tofu in my diet might have had contributed to my risks. My DCIS is 98% ER+ and 97% PR +.

My saga started about 5 years ago. My first baseline mammo was at 38 after child birth and clean. Since I had very dense breast tissue(75-80%), pretty much very mammo would be followed with a sono immediately after on my left. I counted I had 12 mammos and 12  sonos in the past 5 years also, and one MRI. I have been called back a couple of times, and on 4 occasions to be advised to have biopsies. My first biopsy was in Nov, 2009 almost 18 months after a radiologist initially recommended the procedure and it came out to be b9. I was so confident that I did not even allow to have the chip/marker put in. But subsequent 6 months follow up showed more calcifications.. So I decided to watch and monitor till July of 2013. Watch and monitor ran its course and stereotactic vacuum kind biopsy indicated low grade DCIS, micropallilary kind...(to be continued)
