    Hi fadheir,

The other members here in the Lymphedema forum are very helpful -- we're sure there will be some informational posts shortly. In the meantime, you may be interested in checking out the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Lymphedema Signs and Symptoms for things to look for. Of course, you should always let your doctor know about any symptoms you're experiencing!

We hope this helps, and that you feel better soon.

fadheir, lots of us experience an ache, and sometimes that can be pretty strong, but at least in my case, I'd not go so far as to describe it as a shark bite.  It's a dull roar of an ache more than a wincing pain.

I'm sure others will share their experience, too.  Sorry you're having this.  Doesn't sound like LE to me, but then LE can have so so many symptoms...let's see what others say.

fadheir, sorry you are experiencing this. We need a bit more info. I take it youve only just started having this, or did you mean youve been experiencing this (on and off???)for 5 years? A shark bite pain seems pretty awful in any event. Also have you been dx with LE at all or have you seen anyone and are wearing garments. From the context of your post it sounds like you havent been. Have you noticed any swelling at all? Wrists fingers arms truncal? The wrong fitting sleeves can cause all sorts of dramas including very intense aching, as can strenuous activity. We often hear of clamp like pain, and I can attest to that. Any node removal automatically puts you at risk for the rest of your life for LE. I think it is only about 20% who will get it though.

I'm sorry you're experiencing that. What else is going on? Swelling? Is it only in your arm? My lymphedema is more of an ache, dull in nature, that a sharp pain. Did you overdue recently with your arm or hand? Just to be safe I'd have it looked at. Good luck.

What do you mean by "shark bite" pain?  Is this a stabbing pain, constant/intermittant, how long has it been there, what Drs have you seen?  So many questions and so many possibilities.

Fadheir, did you have radiation? If so, you might want to check with your radiation oncologist as well.

Please let us know what your doctor says. Hoping he'll have some real answers for you. Gentle hugs,
    Binney
