Hi Woodylb, take a deep breath and try to calm down a little..........there are many women on these boards who have liver mets and are surviving and thriving for a long time. Liver mets can be symptom free for a very long time.

It is possible that what you see is something else but the best thing to do is wait for the report from your doctor.

to answer your question, yes, those spots could be something other than mets, such as a hemangioma. I second chrissyb's advice to wait and see what the doctor says. Liver mets don't always cause symptoms—mine don't.

My pre-chemo CT scan in 2008 showed numerous small spots on my liver that the radiologist described as being "too small to classify." My onc said, "Let's wait and see if chemo affects them." Post-chemo CT showed that they were just the same...not larger, not smaller. Neither my onc, my surgeon, nor the radiologist know exactly what they are (suggestions included hemangiomas, cysts, the ends of nerves or blood vessels), but they aren't mets. If they were, they would have most likely made themselves known by now through my blood work and symptoms. So yes, your spots could be something other than mets.

Same with me, I had what they said were cysts on my liver.  Of course I stressed over them for two years, but that was 5/2 years ago, and fine so far :)

I have had elevated liver enzymes for 9 months,  lately, experiencing bloating and ab discomfort after eating,  i just had another lipid panel and my enzymes have slowly increased.  My MO referred me to a liver specialist.  He did not order any scans,  my appointment is not for a month and I am starting to worry.  Is the referral to a liver doctor normal, rather than just ordering a scan?
